Leah Evensen
Leah was enrolled in her first ballet class at age 4 and has been dancing ever since! She trained with Kehl School of Dance throughout childhood, and danced competitively in middle and high school. She especially enjoyed performing in the local Nutcracker ballet every year and teaching the younger dancers at her studio. Leah then earned her dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Anthropology and Linguistics from the University of Hawai’i – Hilo, where she studied under Kristi Kapahua in the dance program. She performed in a number of university productions, including the musical, “Wordsworth,” the ballet “Coppelia,” and various department performances. In 2024, she had the opportunity to attend the American College Dance Association Northwest conference with her university and learn from nationally-acclaimed dance professionals. Leah continues her ballet training through open classes at the Pacific Northwest Ballet.
Leah has been teaching at Tutu School since 2024 and loves finding creative ways to break down tricky ballet steps into fun activities for the little ones! Her butterfly wings are a shimmery yellow, and her favorite ballet story is Coppélia. Happy twirling!
