At Tutu School New Orleans, we’re proud to be part of such a vibrant, incredible community. Whether you’re heading to one of our ballet classes on Magazine Street, celebrating after a performance, or simply looking for your next family adventure in the Crescent City, New Orleans has so much to offer.

1. Audubon Park & Playground

Nestled under majestic, moss-draped live oaks, Audubon Park offers spacious green lawns, paved walking and biking paths, and a fantastic playground where little ones can burn off their energy. It’s a peaceful spot for a picnic or a leisurely stroll. The playground at Audubon Park is great for anyone, but especially perfect for toddlers through early elementary. Audubon Park Just a quick 10-minute drive down Magazine Street from Tutu School!

2. Louisiana Children’s Museum at City Park

Located in City Park, this state-of-the-art facility features indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits centered on water play, environmental literacy, and sensory storytelling. They regularly host seasonal storytimes, art workshops, and family festivals! It’s the perfect plane for young children because it encourages hands-on discovery and creative play tailored specifically for growing minds.

3. PJ’s Coffee on Magazine Street

Grab a signature cold brew or a classic espresso drink from PJ’s to keep your energy up! Be sure to try their King Cake flavor during Mardi Gras season! They have a kid-friendly atmosphere with welcoming staff, fresh muffins, and delicious pastries. There’s truly something for everyone! Founded right here in New Orleans, this local staple sits right down the block from our studio doors!

4. Parish Parlor

Parish Parlor is a locally owned, locally sourced, from scratch, small-batch ice cream parlor in the heart of New Orleans’ Lower Garden District. You can’t go wrong with a scoop of brown butter chocolate chip cookie dough after a morning of dancing!

5. Octavia Books

This enchanting bookstore features a dedicated children’s corner stocked with picture books, local storybooks, and early reader classics. They have great special programming with author visits and seasonal children’s literary events throughout the year. *Be sure to check out Cafe Malou inside the bookstore for the best chocolate chip cookies in town!*

6. Molly’s Rise and Shine

This vibrant breakfast spot serves up creative, playful twists on classic morning favorites that delight kids and parents alike. The real star of the experience is their cheerful, retro décor—bursting with nostalgic 80s and 90s toys, colorful diner style, and whimsical collectibles that make every visit feel like a bright, joyful party! Located a few blocks down Magazine Street, this would be a perfect meal for either before or after class

From colorful floats and brass bands to catching glittering beads and signature throws along St. Charles, taking your little twirler to a family-friendly day parade is the ultimate local holiday tradition that fills the streets with music, dance, and pure celebration.
