Bravo Bash FAQ: Everything Tutu School Culver City Families Need to Know 🩰✨

The countdown to our Winter Bravo Bash has officially begun at Tutu School Culver City!

This winter, our dancers will step into A Nutcracker Dream: The Land of Sweets for a magical celebration of ballet, imagination, and everything they have been learning in class.

For many of our Tutu Schoolers, Bravo Bash will be their very first time performing onstage — and we know that can come with lots of questions for grown-ups! Bravo Bash was created especially for young dancers, with an experience that is joyful, age-appropriate, and wonderfully low-pressure.

Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked Bravo Bash questions!

¿Qué es Bravo Bash?

Bravo Bash is Tutu School’s special twist on a traditional ballet recital.

Rather than focusing on perfection or creating a high-pressure performance environment, Bravo Bash gives young dancers an opportunity to experience the excitement of performing in a way that feels supportive, celebratory, and fun.

It’s a chance for our Tutu Schoolers to share a little bit of the magic they experience in class each week — and take a very special bow!

When is the Winter Bravo Bash?

Our Tutu School Culver City Winter Bravo Bash is December 12, 2026. Performance times will be between 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM and will be assigned closer to the recital.

This winter’s theme is A Nutcracker Dream: The Land of Sweets, so families can expect plenty of Nutcracker-inspired magic along the way!

Does my dancer need any performance experience?

Not at all!

Bravo Bash is designed to be an age-appropriate introduction to performing onstage, which means it is absolutely okay if this is your dancer’s very first performance.

Our goal isn’t perfection. We want dancers to feel proud, supported, and excited to share their dancing with the people they love.

• Must be enrolled through December to participate

When will my dancer learn their Bravo Bash routine?

Right in their regular ballet class!

There are no lengthy additional rehearsals leading up to Bravo Bash. Instead, dancers spend a few minutes during their regularly scheduled classes becoming familiar with their special performance music and choreography.

That means we can prepare for the excitement of Bravo Bash without turning every ballet class into recital rehearsal. Dancers still get to enjoy the imaginative stories, ballet technique, movement activities, and magic that make Tutu School class special.

Does my dancer have to memorize the entire routine?

No!

We want our dancers to become familiar with their choreography, but we don’t expect our little dancers to memorize an entire routine and perform it all by themselves.

A Tutu Teacher will be right there onstage with the dancers, demonstrating and helping guide them through their dance.

That means if your dancer forgets what comes next, gets distracted by the lights, or needs a little extra reassurance, they have a familiar teacher right beside them.

Can we practice at home?

Yes — but home practice is completely optional!

Bravo Bash rehearsal videos are available through Tutu TV for families who would like a little extra practice at home.

The goal is for dancers to feel comfortable with their music and movement — not pressured to get every step exactly right.

What does my dancer wear?

One of the most exciting parts: their Bravo Bash costume!

Families select their dancer’s costume size during Bravo Bash registration, and Bravo Bash costumes are designed to go along with our whimsical performance theme.

Even better? Your dancer gets to keep their beautiful costume after the show — a sweet reminder of their Bravo Bash experience.

What if my child is shy or nervous onstage?

That is completely okay — and very normal!

Bravo Bash was intentionally created to give young children a gentle first experience with performing. Their classmates will be alongside them, and a Tutu Teacher will be onstage helping throughout the dance.

Some dancers may perform every step. Some may spend a moment taking in the audience. Some might need a little encouragement before joining in.

Bravo Bash is about giving children the opportunity to experience the stage in a supportive environment and build confidence at their own pace.

Who can participate in Bravo Bash?

Actively enrolled dancers in Tutu Toddlers, Exploring Ballet, and Primary Ballet Prep are invited to participate.

Not sure whether your dancer is eligible? Just reach out to us and we’ll be happy to help!

Can family and friends come watch?

Absolutely! Bravo Bash is a celebration meant to be shared with the people who cheer our dancers on.

Families will also have the opportunity to purchase additional audience tickets closer to the recital.

Our Culver City Bravo Bash performances will take place between 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM. Each dancer will be assigned a specific performance time within that window, and we’ll share your dancer’s time slot along with additional show-day details as we get closer to Bravo Bash.

Keep an eye on your inbox for your performance time, ticket information, and everything you’ll need to know for the big day!

How long is Bravo Bash?

No marathon recitals here!

Bravo Bash performances are intentionally designed to be short and sweet, keeping the experience fun and manageable for little dancers — and their families.

Is participation required?

No. Bravo Bash participation is optional, although we absolutely encourage our dancers to join us!

For many Tutu Schoolers, it becomes a wonderful milestone: their first costume, their first time stepping onto a stage, their first bow, and a very special opportunity to feel proud of everything they have been learning.
