Assistant Teaching Program

Learn. Assist. Grow into a Tutu Teacher.

Interested in teaching little ones but don’t have much classroom experience yet? Our Teaching Assistant Program is designed for individuals who are excited to learn the art of early childhood teaching in a supportive, hands-on environment — at their own pace – while working toward becoming a Tutu School teacher.

Teaching Assistants work alongside our experienced Lead Teachers during some of our busiest classes and events, gaining real-world experience with young dancers, classroom management, lesson flow, and the magic of teaching ballet to little ones.

What you’ll do:

• Assist the Lead Teacher in creating a fun, positive, and engaging class environment
• Help young dancers participate, follow directions, and feel successful
• Assist with props, activities, music, and transitions
• Help prepare and reset the studio before and after class
• Support classroom organization and cleanliness
• Learn how to manage the unique needs and energy of early childhood classes
• Observe and learn from experienced Tutu School teachers
• Gradually take on more teaching responsibilities as your skills develop

Who we’re looking for:

• Basic dance experience required
• Someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children
• Reliable, energetic, patient, and eager to learn
• Comfortable being silly, playful, and enthusiastic!
• Previous childcare, assisting, education, camp, coaching, or classroom experience is a plus
• Interested in growing into a future Tutu School teaching role

Compensation:
$10–$15/hour after completion of basic training, depending on experience and responsibilities.

The goal:
This isn’t simply an assistant position — it’s an opportunity to learn the Tutu School way from the inside out. Teaching Assistants who demonstrate reliability, initiative, and a natural connection with young dancers may have the opportunity to progress into our Tutu Teacher training program and ultimately become a Lead Teacher. With 155 Tutu Schools around the country, there are many opportunities ahead!
